Shadow of doubt

This film is a great example of a thriller, as it gets the audience thinking straight away.
On the cover of the film we are introduced to our two main characters who we later on find out is uncle charlie, and his niece charlie.
the scene starts off in a deprived area, where uncle charlie is inside a flat, laying with a cigar in his mouth wearing a formal suit. Aswell as money lying all around his room.
This scene confuses the viewers as a rich man is living in an deprived area. Uncle charlie however does look sinister as he doesn't move when he finds out 'friends' have come knocking for him. Also he doesn't show a significant interest in the money lying around in places.
Uncle charlie gets up when he blinds go down, in he shadows. he also smashes glass with sinister music playing at the back. this makes the audience think that he is the antagonist.

After uncle charlie runs away from the police, we move into the next scene where we see charlie laying in bed in the same position as uncle charlie however she lives in an totally opposite place to uncle charlie, as  she lives in clean, posh area. the audience will therefore make the assumption that charlie is the protagonist, with the complete opposite personality compared to her uncle.

there is suspense built up during the film, as the audience wait to find out if charlie will find out about her uncle being a murderer.
