How does your media product represent particular social groups?


In my thriller sequence we have a unknown man chasing a young teenager. There are several social groups represented. Firstly the age group is considered, as we see that a teenage girl is walking out alone in the evening. This can show that women are week species compared to men in society. This may therefore make the audience believe that it would be better if teenage girls are not left walking alone as they are vulnerable and more likely to be attacked. by suspicious men. Gender was also represented in my thriller opening, as it fits the stereotype of how men are the leaders of society. This is shown when the innocent girl is trying to get away, as we see that the man is in control of what is going to happen. The man also creates a mysterious yet negative atmosphere in the thriller opening as his face is covered, and so the audience are finding it hard to see his face. This can relate to how most young men are portrayed as in the society. The image portrayed is an image of a teenage girl, which was similar to what we had used in our thriller opening.
